DuraTabUSA started in 2001 with a dedicated group of designers that were committed to providing useful computer technology to the handicapped market. Through our initial efforts, we have been able to bring easy accessibility to the real world to those individuals who otherwise may not be able to live life to its fullest. Our efforts were, and continue to be rewarding in this oft-neglected market.
When studying this market and its unique challenges it presented, it became immediately aware to us that "off the shelf" computing solutions were almost totally ineffective in both packaging and computing features that were available. We recognized early on that we would need to design a totally different computer solution from the ground up.
Packaging of available laptop PC's though fine for general purpose use, lacked the truly rugged packaging required to withstand sometimes harsh use. Simple drops and rough handling were almost always fatal to these plastic cased laptops, and the clamshell design did not permit convenient mounting in a multitude of positions for viewing and data input. More importantly, conventional keyboards were of no use, due to the user's physical limitations, making touchscreen input necessary. In addition, a variety of external peripherals needed to be interfaced, including switches, sensors, readers, and other associated controls.
The resulting tablet computer we developed have become the standard in the handicapped access market, and their features have given way to additional use in the Law Enforcement, EMS, and Industrial markets, where the same durability and interface features are required.
We have installed hundreds of our DuraTab products in Law Enforcement, EMS, and Extreme Industrial applications, where 100% reliability is a must. Our fanless design, rugged package, long battery life, and interface adaptability to any installation requirement sets us apart from any other computer solution available today.
